Glee. Show that was so
great its first years. Show that became so bad, so different – especially some
episodes and stories in it´s fourth and fifth season. Don´t get me wrong,
I still watched it, I still enjoyed many episodes, but there was not
the same feeling as the show had first three seasons. I think it has to do
a lot with Cory Monteih death. He was one of the most important people in
the show, giving it really something extraordinary.
Don´t stop believing.
I remember watching
first season long time ago, ending of the first episode and how it touched me,
much more than any other shows that time. There are lot of problems in the
world. Lot of problems that touch people. Teenegers in high school have their
own problems, some of them are really big, but not everyone sees it. Or cares
about. Glee was often about dealing with problems, issues or heartbreaks in
lives of kids in the show. And always managed to end on positive note, so
optimistic that many times after watching the show I felt that optimism
for some time.
And most of glee, the best
moments were about Cory and Lea (Finn and Rachel). Few years after, when season
three ended with „Roots Before Branches“ I thought that it could be nice
ending of the show. Then season 4 came, with some changes, new characters and
storylines. And I think that´s the biggest problem of the new seasons –
many plot parts were absurd, only there because of some song hit they creators
of the show wanted to cover. And also the changes between Lima and New York,
well, don´t know why, but somehow it didn´t work out. Not for me.
Before season 6
I didn´t have almost any expectations. I just wanted to see it, see
how the show ends. See what creators decide to do with Rachel´s character, as
she didn´t get the happy ending with Finn. Surprisingly, I liked season 6.
More than fifth and fourth. I liked new characters and I think it is
pitty the season had only 13 episodes. I would like to see more episodes
focused on the new group.
The first part of finale
„2009“ was done in good way. I thought there will be some scenes with
Cory, from material they show but didn´t use that time. Eventually, Cory was
only in the end, in original glee version of Don´t Stop Believing. And I liked
it again, enjoyed it again as in the beginning.
Second part „Dreams Come
True“ was a bit rushed, but also very good and nice. Given the
circumstances there were probably not many possibillities to make it better.
Some people are complaining about how everyone got their happy ending, but
again, after what cast and characters of glee went through, I think it was
not such a nonsense. And also, glee creators did not take the show so
seriously last years (as storylines with Sue) so it would be strange to see
suddenly very realistic ending. I really liked how they got together
almost everyone from original staff, even most of the kids from the season 4.
One of the last songs
„This Time“ was written by Darren Crises and for me was one of the best things
I heard in glee season 6. I also like the last song „I lived“ but
mostly because of seeing everyone together.
No matter how the show
changed throught its 6 years, we should remember it for its greatest moments,
positive attidude to the world. And remember „See the world not as it is, but
as it should be“.
